New Mercies Christian Church provides Bible-based counseling for both members and non-members as part of our services to the church and the community. Both male and female counselors are available for an initial assessment and short-term Biblical guidance.
The Counseling Department strives to provide a Biblical approach to problem solving and relationship resolution during all counseling. The goal of the Counseling Department is that individuals, couples and families might grow in their relationships with the Lord and learn to apply Biblical principles in their everyday walk and interactions with others. The ultimate goal is Christ-likeness.

Regular Activities

Radical Love

Radical Love is a 12 week, faith-based marriage skills building program. Radical Love understands that marriage is perfect: the people in the marriage are not. Since marriage is perfect, it cannot be improved. Moreover, marriage both facilitates and accomplishes all that God designed-conformity to Christ, companionship along the journey and children (the off-spring of a fruitful union).

DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside individuals through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone. DivorceCare seminars and support groups are led by individuals who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable DivorceCare resources to help you deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life.

DivorceCare for Kids

Help the children heal from the pain of divorce!

Are your children angry, hurt and confused about your divorce? Finding help for the children can be frustrating. DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) provides a safe, fun place where the children will:
  • Learn to understand their feelings
  • Express their emotions appropriately
  • Feel better about themselves
  • Develop coping skills
  • Be introduced to Biblical concepts that will bring comfort

Premarital Counseling

All couples that schedule their wedding ceremony at New Mercies Christian Church must complete an approved premarital counseling session. This counseling session is to assist couples in developing skills to navigate their way through marriage successfully and to identify (and if possible resolve) areas of differences amongst themselves. These differences, if not resolved prior to marriage, may become a source of conflict later.

Before a wedding is actually scheduled with the church, the couple should call the Counseling Department for an appointment to discuss premarital counseling.  Please call the Counseling Department at 770-925-4383 or email click here.

The Many Forces of Domestic Abuse

New Mercies Christian Church Department of Counseling Services has been charged with bringing forth education and awareness to a hidden societal illness which plagues the Body of Christ and its neighboring communities. By holding the victims captive through manipulation and control that’s managed by fear, this illness robs families of the abundant life which God has intended through Christ. This is the “Face of Domestic Violence and Abuse” which has debilitating effects that are seen across all religious affiliations, socioeconomic groups and races and ethnicities. Because of its prevalence, it is of great importance that we acknowledge the issues by bringing it out of the shadows along with all of its pervasive effects. We are called to bear one another’s burden to fulfill the Law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).
